Description
A Storm of Crows
There comes an eerie rustling.
as something rises from the corn.
From out of the mists of legend
an ancient nightmare is reborn.
With eyes like glowing brimstone
and a heart as black as coal.
Unto man it is the reaver,
born with a hunger for the human soul.
It comes on this the longest night
and now all hope for the light will fall.
As like thunder from the darkness
comes its terrible call.
"Rise up, oh my legion.
Rise up on darkened wing.
Go forth unto the harvest,
as the autumn winds sing."
Then comes a dreadful cawing
as the host rises from the rows.
For at Samhain the dark one awakens
and its coming is as a storm of crows.

This is just a representation of the myths and legends surrounding peoples fear of Samhain,All Hallows Eve or as we know it today Halloween. The superstitions and fear of the longest night of the year go back as far as the recorded history of man. There are many versions representing several cultures but all have some similarities. This is just one version of the fear of all things that are free to roam the world on this the darkest night. I hope you enjoyed it in the manner it was meant to be just an embodiment of the fear of the dark.
